In last week’s blog post, I shared about my first ever Personality Mini Sessions and how they were scheduled to take place at Studio Neue in Plymouth, Michigan.
A Personality Mini Session is just as it sounds– a photography session to capture the essence of your child’s personality and what makes him or her unique and special.
I’ve wanted to host Personality Mini Sessions for a while but if I’m being perfectly honest– I’ve been a little intimidated. It’s one thing to coax a genuine smile out of a child in their own home while they are in a comfortable and familiar environment and are free to proudly show off their favorite toys or newest dance moves.
It’s another thing to invite a child into a studio they’ve never before visited, plop them onto a neutral sheet of backdrop paper and ask them to “act natural” for 10 minutes. It has felt a little intimidating!
As I shared in last week’s post, my decision to host these Mini Sessions at Studio Neue grew from a desire in my heart to join families together in giving back to a greater cause. I kept asking myself how I could use my own gifts to give back to hurting families in the Middle East and that still small voice deep inside kept nudging me to take the leap and be brave.
And friends, let me tell you. I am SO glad I decided to push myself creatively both from an artistic and a relational standpoint. Sometimes showing up in a new way, with new people can be so hard but the reward is so great. As you can see from the above and below photos, I had absolutely nothing to worry about. These kids were absolute ROCKSTARS.
In total, there were 7 families represented and 15 children. To get the kids to relax and be silly, we played with toys and rattles, made funny faces, told jokes, hopped and jumped! We even had a Taylor Swift Dance Party!
We even had a set of twins join us for the fun!
One of the highs of my day was a special visit from one of my 2023 Newborn Session Families. I wrote about my Lifestyle Newborn Session for Sully in this post last January! Sweet Sully turns 1 this week and we were able to pair our Personality Mini Sessions with some first birthday milestone photos for this sweet boy, along with some updated brother photos too.
Happy early 1st Birthday, Sully!
And last, but certainly not least, some neighborhood friends of ours joined in for the fun!
Truly, I had SO much fun at these sessions. We had an absolute blast. And the BEST part was that together we these 7 families, donated to NINE different organizations to love on families and individuals in Middle Eastern countries who are being directly affected by the war taking place.
Tree Tops Collective, World Central Kitchen, Doctors Without Borders, Global Empowerment Mission, Pious Projects, Canaan Palestine, Middle Eastern Children’s Alliance, Peach & Honey Pop Up Shop, Gaza’s Winter Appeal for Families in Need are all organizations that were donated to through these Personality Mini Sessions.
It was truly an honor to partner with each of these families and to capture photos of their kiddos! As always, a huge THANK YOU to Studio Neue in Plymouth for hosting us and providing us such a beautiful studio space to take photos! We appreciate you so much!
